New Hampshire's Drought may be impacting out native Brook trout. (VIDEO)

Sunday 08/16/2020

I think we have had nearly twenty days so far this year with temperatures above 90 degrees in Central New Hampshire. This heat on top of the current drought we are in may be impacting our native Brook trout. All the local brooks I have seen around where I live have stopped flowing. These were brooks that have held these native trout over the last four decades I have lived here. Trouble is as our climate warms, and apparently is dryer, these brooks now completely dry up some summers. I think in three out of the last five years we have had these local brooks dry up each summer. This must be impacting the survival of our native trout. I no longer fish these brooks myself in order to reduce my impacts on them.
