Woolly bear caterpillars and heading into a very warm fall:

Tuesday 10/10/2017

Well its been a while since I last posted. I just guess I'm getting lazy or something.

As we head into fall I can't help but get more motivated I hope. Well of coarse there was that stretch of record breaking 90 degree days the last week of September that didn't help motivate me much. Even this first week of October had us in the 80's a couple of days. No doubt fall will knock us with a wake up call some frosty morning soon. And by the way not a hint of a frost here at my house yet. I did hear that elsewhere in town had a bit of a frost a few mornings ago. I think the Suncook River in my back yard has me a little warmer than some for a bit longer in town.

I've seen a number of Wooly bear caterpillars crossing the roads this past week. Yes I slow down and make sure to miss even the smallest of Nature's gifts I have come to admire over my 45 year career as a wildlife biologist. Same goes for the Monarch butterfly I spotted out front in my yard yesterday. Imagine it is headed to a group of trees on a Mexican mountain side that its great-great-great-great grandmother left from this spring. Yes life is so amazing.

Boy have the trees turned color this week. This is a time of year to make sure you get outside and enjoy all that Nature has to offer.
