Wow what color!

Friday 09/27/2013

And suddenly its fall. Can't help but seeing the brilliant colors of fall no matter which way you look now. It is all around. What a difference a few cool night seem to make. A week ago you kind of had to search for color. Not any more. My 90 year old mother claimed "Isn't this wonderful. This is the best I have ever seen." as I drove her out to dinner with me last evening. And I think she is right. No matter how well we remember last year or years past seeing the phenomenal colors first hand each year sure beats out the best that our memories can recall. Huge panoramas of color hem in our roads and highways only trumped by the more distant views of whole hillsides draped in color. No way can a memory capture that.

Still no frost at my house yet. And none predicted in the next few days. That means our growing season is extended into October again this year. I still have tomatoes that are ripening. Our local trees are laden with apples as well. Seems like a plentiful fall for us and a pretty good one for wildlife as well, though acorns around here don't seem all that abundant.
