Estimated 2010 Total Deer Kill

The unofficial deer kill for New Hampshire’s 2010 season is listed below with comparisons to similar estimates from the previous 8 years.  As with all previous call-in figures, these numbers are all estimates based on the number of deer reported as being registered (not necessarily killed) in each county and may not represent complete data from all registration stations. The estimated 2010 harvest may change when all registration data have been received and verified and earlier estimates may not match final harvest figures for pervious years.

The estimated 2010 statewide harvest of 9,765 is down 6% from the 2009 preliminary estimate. Based on these preliminary registration figures, it appears that most counties of the state registered relatively similar numbers of deer to 2009 with the exception of Grafton. Further analysis of the data by the Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) in which deer were killed as registration information is received and verified will provide more detailed information.

A detailed summary of the sex, age and distribution of the kill on a WMU basis will be made in the near future. All registration slips should be received within the next week and verified against registration seals issued and returned. Data entry, verification and preliminary analysis should be complete by early January when a final summary of this year’s hunt will be available.
